As someone with a degree in Equine Science, I was especially impressed by how evidence-based practices were integrated into the daily care of the horses. The team maintained close communication with vets, farriers, and other professionals to ensure each horse’s individual needs were met, whether that meant managing a complex dietary requirement, and or simply ensuring they were happy and relaxed in their environment.

My role at the yard gave me the chance to put my academic knowledge into practice—handling daily care routines, spotting early signs of illness or discomfort, monitoring condition and behaviour, and maintaining a clean, calm environment. It also reinforced the importance of consistency, observation, and teamwork when working with horses to the highest standard.

The experience I gained at Kenn pier stables has prepared me incredibly well for the next chapter of my journey: relocating to Australia to continue working in the equine industry. I’m leaving with not just practical skills, but a deepened understanding of what truly excellent horse care looks like.
