My horse has had lots of injuries so I'm quite anxious. Sue puts your mind at rest and keeps you updated with videos and photos. The yard is always immaculate, sue is very friendly and cares for the horses as her own. Would definitely recommend if you want a peaceful retirement livery where horses get individual treatment.

As a ‘demanding’ owner who is very fretful and seeks perfection, when the time came to find a retirement home for our little mare after loosing her companion at home, I began an incredibly difficult process. Suzi needed to be with other horses at all times and could be easily stressed. When I finally found Bugthorpe and met Sue and her family I was instantly put at ease. Sue is very knowledgeable, her yard is clean tidy and very well organised, the spacious fields and open stables within the barn were the perfect environment for Suzi. Sue gave her word Suzi would be cared for as if she were her own and that is a promise Sue carries out to the letter. I was truly amazed how quickly Suzi settled in, she is very content in her little herd and is very well looked after, I have finally found the peace of mind that Suzi is in safe hands and enjoying the retirement she so deserves. I visit Suzi every Friday and leave feeling incredibly lucky! Thank you to Sue and her family.

Scooter has settled really well and I feel that Sue got to understand my grumpy old man very quickly. It is peaceful but other horses to keep him company and he does seem to enjoy being out in a small group after many years in his own paddock at other yards. I am made to feel very welcome when I visit but am equally confident that he will be looked after beautifully if I couldn’t get there. A lovely retirement home.
